This small pitcher is stamped Poterie d'Accolay France, a cult ceramics workshop founded in the village of Accolay in Burgundy in the late 1940s.
Accolay pieces are known for their expressive shapes, saturated glazes, and slightly handcrafted irregularities – halfway between everyday pottery and collectible design objects.
The deep emerald glaze, rounded silhouette and twisted handle are very typical of the workshop’s mid-century production. Functional, but with a strong sculptural presence.
Originally designed as a milk or water pitcher, it works just as well today as:
– a small jug
– a creamer
– a flower vase
– or simply a decorative accent on a shelf
A compact piece of authentic French post-war ceramic design.
